My work uses imagery that I identify as vulnerable, beautiful and in a precarious situation. I use my photographs and observations in order to make paintings that juxtapose areas of highly rendered labor intensive imagery verses gestural and alla prima painting. The physicality of the painted surface, reference to the film still and the allusion to movement contribute to the viscerally charged moment.
